IE Continues To Slip as Firefox’s Popularity Rises
By Anna Johnson on September 29th, 2009Based on figures from StatCounter, worldwide usage of Microsoft Internet Explorer has declined 10 percent in the past year, with Firefox, Chrome, Safari and Opera all picking up share.
IE’s browser market share slipped from 68.91 percent in August 2008 to 58.51 percent in September 2009. Meanwhile, Firefox’s share grew from 26.08 percent to 31.38 percent.
During the same period Google’s Chrome grew from a share of 0 percent to 3.51 percent, Apple’s Safari rose from 2.99 percent to 3.19 percent, and Opera’s share rose from 1.83 percent to 2.72 percent.
