How Much Is a Google Visitor Worth?

Based on Silicon Alley Insider’s estimates of the revenues of Google, AOL, Yahoo, Microsoft, Facebook and Twitter, it reckons Google leads the way when it comes to revenue per unique visitor, with $18.44 in revenue per unique.

Silicon Alley Insider divided the 2009 revenue of each company by the average number of monthly worldwide unique visitors to its main website. The publication concluded that the money is in search advertising, followed by display, with monetizing social network users coming in third.

So how much is a Google visitor worth, or a visitor to AOL, Yahoo, Microsoft, Facebook or Twitter? Here are the numbers:

  • Google: $18.44 per unique visitor
  • AOL: $12 per unique visitor
  • Yahoo: $6 per unique visitor
  • Microsoft: $4.42 per unique visitor
  • Facebook: $3.09 per unique visitor
  • Twitter: $0.62 per unique visitor
