HomeInsurance.com Buys HomeownersInsurance.com Domain For $570,000
By Anna Johnson on November 30th, 2010Online home insurance shopping site HomeInsurance.com has acquired the domain name HomeownersInsurance.com for $570,000 in an all-cash transaction.
HomeInsurance.com, which currently attracts 50,000 visitors to its website per month, expects the purchase to increase its online home insurance shopping visitors to 100,000 visitors month.
“We currently reach approximately 50,000 home insurance shoppers monthly,” said Carlos Lagomarsino, CEO of HomeInsurance.com. “With this recent purchase our new long term development goal is to double the depth of our reach into the online insurance marketplace.”
Carlos Lagomarsino regards the HomeownersInsurance.com acquisition as, among other things, helping the company to increase its organic search rankings and associated traffic.
A U.S. based Google search reveals that HomeInsurance.com currently enjoys the number one ranking for the term ‘home insurance’ . On the other hand, the company lags behind such players as StateFarm, Geico and a host of others for the terms ‘home owners insurance’ and ‘homeowners insurance’.
This, however, may not be a major concern for the company right now. HomeInsurance.com is aggressively purchasing a range of location based home insurance related domain names in order to boost search engine rankings and generate traffic.
“HomeownersInsurance.com is our most recent step towards owning the top home insurance properties out there”, said Lagomarsino. “In addition to the two top home insurance domains in the industry, we have also attained almost all of the state-specific home insurance websites such as CaliforniaHomeInsurance.com and NewYorkHomeInsurance.com.”
HomeInsurance.com, which has been in business since 1992, has a sales force of over 100 licensed agents who operate the company’s Wilmington N.C. based call center. These agents assist the company’s online customers select from such home insurance providers including Travelers, Safeco (A Liberty Mutual Company), The Hartford, Progressive and Foremost.
