Healthcare Mobile Application Usage Set To Grow
By Anna Johnson on November 24th, 2010Just under half of all consumers (48 percent) and around 75 percent of smartphone users are willing to download and use mobile healthcare applications, according to research by Euro RSCG Life 4D and MicoDialogue.
Based on an online survey of 502 adults, just 27 percent of consumers have downloaded a mobile healthcare application in the last year. This, however, represents an 8 percent increase over those who used mobile healthcare apps last year. What’s more, 67 percent of smartphone users have downloaded a healthcare app, indicating that smartphones are driving people’s interest in using healthcare mobile apps.
The overall number of consumers willing to use a mobile device to obtain health information has also increased in the past year, from 37 to 48 percent. Meanwhile, 44 percent of smartphone users said they expect to use more mobile health and wellness apps in the future.
Overall, the future looks bright for mobile healthcare apps. Already, 62 percent of those who have used a mobile healthcare app said their experience was positive and, of those willing to use mobile devices to capture healthcare info, 67 percent said having information on a mobile device would be helpful or improve the value of that information.
