Google’s Quarterly Revenue 18 Percent Above Last Year
By Anna Johnson on January 27th, 2009Looks like Google’s measures to drive revenues over the last quarter have paid off. For the fourth quarter of 2008, the company beat analysts’ forecasts for both revenue and net revenue.
Google’s fourth quarter revenue grew by 18 percent over last year, to reach $5.7 billion. Meanwhile, its net revenue was 25 percent over the year before, reaching $4.22 billion. Analysts expected it to be $4.12 billion.
However, it wasn’t all good news. Google’s net income for the fourth quarter was 68 percent below that in 2007. This was largely due to one-time charges related to the declining value of two investments.
