Google To Combine Updated Keyword Tool and Search-Based Keyword Tool
By Anna Johnson on August 16th, 2010Google plans to combine its updated Keyword Tool (currently in beta) with its search-based Keyword Tool into one comprehensive tool.
According to Dan Friedman of Google’s Inside AdWords crew, Google intends to replace the two tools (which will continue to be available in their current forms until the end of August) with a single tool sporting the following features (existing and new):
- Flexible search options: you’ll be able to search by any combination of keyword, website/URL and category (where available) and receive a single set of results;
- Easy keyword refinement: you’ll be able to filter results by word or keyword match type;
- Advanced options: the ability to view statistics for mobile search and use data filters based on local searches, search and ad share, etc;
- No duplicate keywords: when accessing the Keyword Tool from within an ad group, keywords that are already in that ad group will appear with an ‘Already in ad group’ message beside them;
- Add negative keywords: you’ll be able to add negative keyword ideas from within your keyword idea list by clicking on a keyword and using the drop down menu to select and save that negative keyword.
If you have a Google Adwords account you can access the updated Keyword Tool by clicking the ‘Keyword Tool’ link in the Opportunities tab.
