Google Lays Off 200 Sales and Marketing Staff
By Anna Johnson on March 30th, 2009Google plans to lay off just under 200 sales and marketing staff across its worldwide organizations.
Google Senior VP of Global Sales and Business Development, Omid Kordestani, wrote in a blog post that Google had decided the lay-offs were necessary after rejecting other options.
Evidently, the lay-offs are part of Google’s plan to restructure operations in order to end duplication and awkward decision making due to overlapping organizations.
Google will give each laid-off employee time to apply for another position at Google, outplacement support, and a severance package if they end up leaving the company.
