Google Introduces Preferred Adwords API Pricing For Ad Agencies

By Anna Johnson on April 28th, 2010

Google has introduced preferred Google AdWords API pricing for qualified Google AdWords Certified Partners. Certified Partners who manage client AdWords accounts will get free use of the AdWords API for managing their clients’ accounts. The Google Adwords API lets developers create applications that interact with and help manage Google Adwords.

To apply for preferred pricing, you’ll need an active agency profile page and comply with the AdWords API terms and conditions.

Currently, Google has a unit-based pricing system where it charges based on a certain number of API units. For example, an operation performed on an AdWords account – such as adding a keyword – consumes a certain number of API units, for which a developer is charged. In general, developers pay USD $0.25 per thousand units consumed.

With Preferred Adwords API Pricing, agencies will get 250 units for every $1 of Adwords spend they manage. So if, for instance, an agency manages a $10,000 spend in one month, they’ll receive 2,500,000 free API units the next month.
