Google Changes Algorithm To Display More Results Per Domain

By Anna Johnson on August 30th, 2010

Google has changed its search engine ranking algorithm to display more results from a given domain. Now, when you search on a given keyword or key phrase you might see several pages from the same website.

Why the change?

According to Google Software Engineer, Samarth Keshava, Google believes that, for certain search queries, search engine users are likely to be interested in more than one result from a given website. This will help them find what they’re looking for, faster. Samarth Kesheva said:

“We expect today’s improvement will help users find deeper results from a single site, while still providing diversity on the results page.”

To see the change in action, use Google to type in a general search query such as ‘internet marketing news kikabink’. Google will now display many more results from the kikabink.com domain than it did so in the past
