Google Accounts For 65 Percent of U.S. Search

By Anna Johnson on June 29th, 2009

According to comScore, Inc’s May 2009 U.S. search engine rankings, Google continues to dominate search, with an estimated 65 percent share of all search engine searches performed in the U.S.

Google’s 65 percent search market share was slightly above its 64.2 percent share in April. In May, Google was followed by Yahoo with a 20.1 percent share (down 0.3 percent from April), Microsoft Live with 8 percent (down from 8.2 percent in April), Ask Network with 3.9 percent (up 0.1 percent from April) and AOL with a 3.1 percent share (down 0.3 percent from April).

comScore’s data does not take Microsoft’s newest entry into the search engine market, Bing, which launched in June.

Many expect comScore’s June figures to show Bing to have grabbed quite a bit of share…
