Goodbye DRM Music, As Yahoo Music Store Closes

Consumers don’t like it and they ain’t buying it. Digital rights management or DRM music that is.

Selling DRM music – music formats where “digital rights management” or “DRM” technologies restrict users’ ability to access, copy or convert the music into other formats – has increasingly become nonviable, as consumers turn to services providing music without restrictions. And in what may signal the end of the DRM music industry, Yahoo Music Store, a major purveyor of DRM music, will close on September 30, 2008.
