Global Advertising To Decline in 2009
By Anna Johnson on July 13th, 2009eMarketer reports that GroupM, the parent of the WPP group of advertising agencies, expects global advertising spending to drop by 5.5 percent in 2009.
According to the GroupM study, “This Year, Next Year,” ad spending in the United States will fall by 4.3 percent in 2009 – followed by a 6.5 percent drop in 2010.
Since ad spending in Brazil, Russia, India and China is expected to recover faster than that in the U.K., Canada, France, Germany, Italy and Japan, the overall decline is expected to be just 1.4 percent in 2010, for total global spending of approximately $411 billion.
