Global Ad Spending To Drop By Up To 7 Percent in 2009

According to eMarketer, GroupM has predicted a 4.4 percent decline, Carat Insight has predicted a drop of 5.8 percent, and now ZenithOptimedia has predicted a 7 percent decline in worldwide ad spending this year.
Specifically, ZenithOptimedia believes ad spending will drop by 11 percent for magazines, 10 percent for radio and 5.5 percent for television.
The forecast for online ad spending is optimistic, however, with worldwide Internet advertising projected to be up 8.6 percent in 2009. On that basis, online advertising will make up 12.1 percent of total global ad spending.
