By Anna Johnson on February 5th, 2011

Australian based, globally-focused Freelancer.com has added to its string of acquisitions in 2010, purchasing German outsourcing marketplace Freelancer.de.

Freelancer.com – billed as the world’s largest outsourcing marketplace – acquired U.K. based Freelancer.co.uk in February 2010, Freemarket.com in July, LimeExchange in December and then subsumed EUFreelance.com a couple of weeks ago in January 2011.

Since 2004, Freelancer.com has garnered 2.1 million registered freelance professionals and facilitated over 920,000 completed projects. To date, the site has generated over $80.6 million in user earnings.

Based on these figures, Freelancer, which charges the higher of $3 or 3 percent of the total project cost, has made as much as $2.4 million in revenues from its users to date.

Given the plethora of outsourcing marketplaces online, Freelancer.com may have its sights on further acquisitions. The company certainly has its eye on dominating the global outsourcing market.
