Fortune 100 Companies Favor Twitter Over Facebook
By Anna Johnson on August 19th, 2009In its July 2009 study of Fortune 100 companies, Burson-Marsteller found that more companies had a presence on Twitter (54 percent) than on Facebook (29 percent).
Burson-Marsteller also found that among the 20 percent of Fortune 100 firms that only used one of the three channels of corporate blog, Facebook and Twitter, they were much likely to choose Twitter (76 percent) over Facebook (14 percent) or blogging (10 percent).
Companies involved in two out of these three channels also chose Twitter over Facebook, with 64 percent having a corporate blog in addition to a Twitter account.
So what do Fortune 100 companies use Twitter for?
Burson-Marsteller found that the most popular uses for Twitter were to: report company news, perform customer service, undertake marketing promotions and recruit employees.
