Facebook Connect Used on 80,000 Websites and Devices
By Anna Johnson on December 16th, 2009Facebook Connect – the mechanism by which third party sites can use Facebook authentication to let users login to their sites – has been implemented by more than 80,000 websites and devices.
So said Facebook’s Director of Development Network, Ethan Beard, at the Le Web conference in Paris last week.
With implementations on such websites as the Huffington Post (which has seen a 500 percent increase in Facebook referrals since adding Facebook Connect to its site) and on devices such as Apple’s iPhone and Microsoft’s Xbox, Facebook Connect is used by over 60 million users per month.
Indeed, apart from a multitude of niche websites using Facebook Connect, two-thirds of comScore’s US Top 100 websites and half of comScore’s Global Top 100 websites have implemented Facebook Connect.
