Facebook and Digg Deliver Loyal Visitors
By Anna Johnson on October 13th, 2009A September 2009 study by online ad network Chitika indicates that Facebook and Digg are the best sources of repeat traffic to other websites.
Chitika found that, among a sample of 33 million unique users across its publisher network, website visitors deriving from Facebook and Digg tended to return to a destination website more often than Google, Yahoo, Bing and Twitter.
Defining a ‘loyal’ visitor as someone who visits a website four or more times per week, Chitika found that over 20 percent of visitors from Facebook visited a destination website four or more times per week, while 16 percent of Digg users did so.
Here are Chitika’s findings for all the sites it studied:
Percentage of visitors from site who visit a destination site four or more times per week:
- Facebook: 20.69 percent
- Digg: 16.09 percent
- Yahoo: 15.89 percent
- Google 11.84 percent
- Bing 11.74 percent
- Twitter: 11.08 percent
