Emails Shared By Friends and Family Generate Higher Conversions Than Commercial Emails
By Anna Johnson on November 29th, 2010It’s probably no surprise that people are more likely to open and click on emails from friends and family than from email marketers. Furthermore, research from Experian Marketing Services’ CheetahMail® also shows that offers sent by friends and family likewise get higher open rates and click-through rates (CTRs) than emails sent by email marketers.
According to Experian CheetahMail’s study, friends-and-family emails outperformed commercial emails in a number of ways, having:
- 43 percent higher open rates;
- 29 percent higher click-through rates;
- 85 percent higher revenue per email; and
- 2.5 times higher transaction rates
Overall, when friends and family send emails containing the same offers as email marketers, such friends-and-family emails generate higher revenue per email. As such, it certainly pays to encourage your email recipients to pass along your emails to their friends and family.
