Ecommerce Sales Down Over Holiday Period
By Anna Johnson on January 8th, 2009While the data is still coming in, eMarketer reports that online sales were down during the 2008 holiday season. It further predicts that growth in ecommerce will be sluggish throughout 2009.
According to comScore, online sales between November 1, 2008 and December 23, 2008 were 3 percent lower than the same period in 2007.
eMarketer predicts retail ecommerce sales to grow by only 4.1 percent in 2009. The research firm doesn’t expect the sector to experience double-digit growth for at least 4 years.
