Ecommerce Growth Sluggish in 2008

By Anna Johnson on March 6th, 2009

Research by comScore indicates that U.S. based business-to-consumer (B2C) ecommerce sales grew by only 6 percent in 2008, the lowest rate since 2003.

Interestingly, 59 percent or $130 billion of the $221 billion in total B2C online sales were travel sales.

Travel was certainly hit by the economic slowdown last year and, as such, was a significant factor in the slower growth in ecommerce sales.
