Don’t Let Anyone Attack Your Idea Before Doing This First…
By Anna Johnson on March 11th, 2010How do entrepreneurial ventures start out? In my experience they come often come from a simple idea or ‘a-ha’ moment. The idea itself may be huge, but because it’s just a thought in someone’s head, it’s still highly fragile – subject to being destroyed by even the slightest criticism or negativity.
For this reason I urge you never to dismiss anything when it’s at the idea stage – wait until you have fleshed it out, built it up, made it as strong as possible, and then, and only then, open it up to attack (i.e. constructive criticism).
If it’s a great idea it will fend off such attack and be all the stronger for it – you’ll discover any weak points and be able to address them, strengthening your idea even further.
Of course, coming up with – even strengthening – the idea is the easy part… now you’ve got to execute on your idea…
