Digg Lets You Digg or Bury Ads
By Anna Johnson on June 5th, 2009In line with allowing people to vote news stories up or down, Digg has announced a new advertising platform called Digg Ads that will give users control over which advertisements are displayed on Digg.
As with news, the more an ad is Dugg, the greater the visibility the ad will have in the Digg stream, and the less the advertiser will have to pay for it. The more an ad is buried, the more the advertiser will need to pay… to the point where it will likely be too expensive to display at all.
Digg Ads will appear alongside news stories in the news stream, with sponsored content having a similar look and feel to regular Digg content. Ads will, however, be clearly marked as sponsored stories. They may include links to other stories, video trailers, independent product reviews, and the like.
Digg’s Mike Maser says the Digg Ads platform will launch as a pilot in a few months’ time. It will be an ‘ongoing work in progress as we learn more from the Digg community and adjust the system.’

I would bury most of the ads. Simply because ads in general have become so annoying these days.
