Digg Ads Going Into Beta
By Anna Johnson on August 9th, 2009This week, social news site, Digg, will begin beta testing ‘Digg Ads’ – it’s new Digg-style advertising program, where ads are displayed based on Diggs, buries and clicks.
Digg Ads will be beta-tested by a small set of users, with Digg planning to continually iterate the product, based on community and advertiser feedback, over th next few months.
As mentioned a few months back in Kikabink News, Digg ads will work just like news stories on Digg.
The more people who Digg an ad, the more prominent the ad will appear and the less the advertiser will have to pay. The more an ad is buried, the less prominently it will appear, with the advertiser having to pay more to keep it visible and ultimately being priced out of the system.
Digg’s aim is to encourage advertisers to create the most compelling ads for the Digg community, whilst giving users greater control over which ads they see.
