Did Australian Energy Company TRUenergy Let Electricity.com.au Expire?
By Anna Johnson on January 6th, 2011Domainer Income has just reported that one of Australia’s major energy companies, TRUenergy let the premium domain name, electricity.com.au expire. Given that electricity.com.au just sold at auction for $30,933… that’s at least $30,933 the energy giant has just kissed goodbye (and probably more considering the strategic value of an energy company owning such a domain).
Hey, even if TRUenergy didn’t want to keep the domain name… surely they would have sold it… not just let it expire.
Is this another case of a large corporation failing to manage its domain name portfolio? Just a few weeks ago huge Australian company Wesfarmers – which owns the leading hardware chain, Bunnings – let the premium domain name hardware.com.au expire. In that case, Wesfarmers’ arch-rival Woolworths picked up the domain name for $33,333 and was reportedly willing to pay up to $100,000 to acquire it.
Once again, large and small companies alike are invited to subscribe to Domainer Income for a mere $97 per month to manage their domain name portfolios… so they don’t forget about assets – domain names – that may be worth at least $30k in hard cash and possibly many times that in strategic value…
