Derek Gehl To Retire as CEO of Internet Marketing Center
By Anna Johnson on March 9th, 2009Derek Gehl, the chief executive officer of one of the dominant players in the Internet marketing niche, the Internet Marketing Center, will be stepping down from his position on Friday March 13, 2009.
Derek Gehl took over the reins as CEO of the Internet Marketing Center (IMC) after the company’s founder, Cory Rudl, died tragically in a car accident on June 2, 2005. He was just 34.
Until then, Derek was Cory’s ‘right hand man’. He started working for Cory in 1998 when the IMC was largely a ‘one man’ operation, and helped build the company to pre-eminence by the time Cory passed.
While many wondered whether the IMC would recover after the death of its founder and number one spokesman (Cory had been THE face of the company) the company only went from strength to strength under Derek Gehl’s leadership.
During Derek Gehl’s tenure as CEO the IMC added numerous more products to its portfolio, cut some of its losers (e.g. the ill-fated Marketing Tips Messenger desktop product) and, according to Derek, grew sales to date to $100 million.
Derek says he’ll be handing over the reins of the IMC to ‘a hand-picked team of Internet marketing top guns who will continue to build the company.’
Why Derek is retiring, or what he plans to do next, have not yet been publicly revealed…

The article has the glow of a real human being talking, and makes me, a cold reader, very sad about the Founder\\\’s passing. Biographical profiles of both the Founder and Derek could be included as a link to click on – people love to get to know people. I suggest you remove the second mention of Derek\\\’s name from the last line.
