Dell Claims $6.5 Million Revenue From Twitter

By Anna Johnson on December 15th, 2009

Last week Dell Computer said it had sold more than $6.5 million worth of Dell products through links posted in tweets on Twitter.

With more than 1 million followers on Twitter (helped by prominent placement on Twitter’s now-retired ‘Suggested Users’ list shown to new Twitter users), that’s an impressive achievement and further evidence that Internet marketers and online stores can monetize Twitter.

Dell also makes good use of Twitter as a channel for interacting with and responding to customers. I can personally attest to this, having had a Dell customer rep send me a tweet when I tweeted about a particular problem our company was having with some Dell equipment.
