Copygator Shows You Who’s Publishing Your RSS Feeds

By Anna Johnson on January 28th, 2009

It’s all very well to encourage people to subscribe to your RSS feed i.e. your blog feed. But what about all those who are – with or without your permission – using your RSS feed to publish content on THEIR blogs?

Well, Copygator promises to let you know who is doing exactly that. You simply take the URL of your site and enter it into the space give on the Copygator site. The service will then reveal which sites have copied your content.

Copygator is free and you can use it to not only display copied posts on an overview page, but also have RSS or email notifications sent to you when Copygator detects others publishing your feed.

One thing to note – if you try Copygator and it doesn’t display any copied posts, don’t assume no-one is copying your content.

The lack of results may be because Copygator hasn’t begun tracking your RSS feed. In that case you can submit your feed and wait for a few minutes while Copygator validates the feed and parses all posts found on it.

Copygator is powered by URLFan and apparently aggregates and crunches through over a half million new blog posts a day.
