comScore’s Top 50 U.S. Web Properties for June 2009

By Anna Johnson on July 27th, 2009

Last week comScore released its list of the most 50 most popular web properties in terms of visitors.

comScore noted several trends in the results. For example, traffic to travel sites picked up in line with the popularity of summer as a travel / vacation time in the U.S. and online gaming sites also experienced a surge in traffic. Job sites were also popular, presumably due to rising unemployment in the country.

Overall, Google Sites were the most visited property in June with nearly 157 million visitors, followed by Yahoo Sites with 154 million visitors, and Microsoft Sites with 127.4 million visitors.

Facebook.com moved up two positions to #6 – its highest-ever ranking. Career Builder ascended 6 spots to #39 with 21.7 million visitors, and The Mozilla Organization climbed 13 spots to #28 with nearly 27 million visitors, apparently due to the release of Firefox 3.5.

Notably, June also saw Twitter.com’s debut in comScore’s top 50. It grabbed the #46 spot with 20.1 million visitors.
