Capital Factory Starts Seed Funding Program in Austin

By Anna Johnson on April 2nd, 2009

Capital Factory is another group founded to help fledgling entrepreneurs start companies, this time in Austin, Texas.

Similar to the various seed-funding-and-mentoring programs pioneered by Y Combinator and adopted by TechStars, Shotput Ventures and others, Capital Factory will invest a small amount of seed capital ($20,000) into a group of startups.

Capital Factory will also provide $20,000 of ‘free stuff’ (web hosting, office space, legal documentation, software and more) along with weekly mentoring from accomplished entrepreneurs over a 10 week period.

The program, which runs from May 22 to August 7, 2009 culminates in a demo day during which the startups will be able to pitch their businesses to investors.

Applications close on April 3, 2009 and more information and application forms can be found here: Capital Factory.
