Business Travelers Prefer To Book Online

By Anna Johnson on November 11th, 2008

A September 2008 Business Travel News-sponsored study by Equation Research and cited by Hospitality Net has found that U.S. business travelers prefer to book their trips online than by telephone or email.

Regular business travelers – those who flew more than six times in the previous 12 months – tended to book online, whether directly with suppliers or via corporate travel departments.

28 percent of corporate travel departments booked travel online, compared with 5 percent who did so via telephone and 5 percent who did so via email.

Meanwhile, 17 percent of business travelers who dealt directly with suppliers booked online, compared with 2 percent who did so via telephone and 1 percent who used email.
