BlackBerry holds on as Leading Mobile Smartphone Platform in U.S.
By Anna Johnson on March 18th, 2010Research in Motion (RIM) – maker of the BlackBerry smartphone device – still has the most popular smartphone platform in the U.S. with a 43 percent share of the U.S. smartphone subscriber market.
comScore data indicates that RIM’s 3-month-average market share in the period between October 2009 and January 2010 was 1.7 percent higher than its previous 3-month-average market share.
Hot on RIM’s heals is Apple, maker of the iPhone, with a 25.1 percent share (up 0.3 percentage points), followed by Microsoft at 15.7 percent, Google (Android) at 7.1 percent (up 4.3 percentage points), and Palm at 5.7 percent.
