Big Portals Shrug Off Economic Woes
By Anna Johnson on August 22nd, 2008Despite economic uncertainties, and advertisers tightening budgets overall, eMarketer estimates online ad revenues for the top four Internet portals (Google, Yahoo!, MSN and AOL) to grow in 2008.
eMarketer predicts that Google’s online ad revenues alone will increase by 27.4 percent in the U.S. in 2008. Meanwhile, it forecasts the big portals to command the following shares of total advertising spending on the Internet:
- Google: 30.7 percent
- Yahoo: 14.6 percent
- MSN: 6.4 percent
- AOL: 4.7 percent
