Australians Flock To U.S. Online Retailers in December

In fact, according to to comScore, 5 out of the top 10 online retailers visited by Australians during the Christmas shopping season were U.S. sites.
Meanwhile, comScore also found that 3 out of 5 Australian Internet users visited a retail site in December. Traffic to the retail category reached its highest volume for 2009, with over 8 million visitors during the month, a 3 percent increase over traffic in December 2008.
Traffic to Apple.com was up by 63 percent to 3 million visitors, with other big traffic rises at GetPrice.com.au (up 71 percent), MyShopping.com.au (up 69 percent) and Dell (up 58 percent).
The top 10 Australian retail sites in December 2009 were:
- Apple.com Worldwide Sites: 3.050 million (up 63 percent)
- Amazon Sites: 2.544 million (up 28 percent)
- Coles Group Ltd: 1.304 million (up 30 percent)
- Woolworths Limited: 1.210 million (up 48 percent)
- Shopping.com Sites: 1.036 million (up 7 percent)
- GetPrice.com.au: 652 thousand (up 71 percent)
- MyShopping.com.au: 475 thousand (up 69 percent)
- DealsDirect.com.au: 452 thousand (down 1 percent)
- Dell: 448 thousand (up 58 percent)
- AmericanGreetings: 443 thousand (no change)
