Are Lame Excuses Holding You Back?

By Anna Johnson on September 3rd, 2009

Ever heard a friend or colleague complain about not knowing how to do something. They’ve said something like, “I can’t do that because I don’t know how…”

Of course, the obvious next question is, “Well, have you tried?” or “Did you try to work out how to do it?” And then you get either that vague look or some mumbling about how they spent 10 minutes trying before it was all too hard.

Lame, lame, lame, lame.

How many people are complaining about their financial situation… who have never invested any time reading about how to manage their personal finances? How many people are complaining about their health… who have never bothered to find out about how to eat and live well?

And how many fledgling Internet marketers are complaining about some aspect of their business… who have not bothered to put time and effort into learning. No, not just learning as in buying the latest and greatest Internet marketing course, but learning as in spending lots of time trying and testing things for themselves?

Remember, I’m not talking about people who make mistakes… I’m talking about people who don’t even bother to try and figure out things out for themselves.

Well, the reality is that an entrepreneur is, by definition, someone who puts a lot of effort into working things out for themselves. Otherwise they wouldn’t be an entrepreneur. Soooo… next time a lame excuse pops into your head (and it happens to all of us) flick it right out of there. Don’t, for one second, let a lame excuse hold you back!
