Apple’s iAd Mobile Advertising Product Lets Developers Advertise in Other Apps
By Anna Johnson on August 2nd, 2010Apple has released a new version of its iAd mobile advertising product that allows application developers to advertise their software applications within other third party applications.
Developers will be able to display iAd banners in other applications which will, in turn, link to their products in Apple’s App Store. This will enable mobile users to download such apps without leaving the app they’re already using.
Whilst developers will be able to advertise in other apps, they will also be able to control what ads are displayed in their own apps. They’ll be able to, for example, exclude competitors’ ads or other undesirable ads from their apps based on keywords, URLs, or specific Apple application IDs.
