Angie’s List Sues Trusty’s

By Anna Johnson on January 15th, 2009

Angie’s List, the successful local business ratings and review service, is suing startup competitor, Trusty’s. Angie’s List alleges that Trusty’s founder Christopher Kody illegally obtained thousands of files from Angie’s List to start his competitive offering.

As reported by TechCrunch, the lawsuit claims Kody became a member of Angie’s List and then used software to scrape almost 10,000 reviews and other information which he then offered in Trusty’s.

Apparently Kody’s attorney said the Trusty’s founder disputed the allegations and planned to “defend against them vigorously”. The first hearing in the matter will take place in February.
