Affiliate Marketers Advised To Take It Slow
By Anna Johnson on September 14th, 2009In a recent blog post, affiliate marketing expert Shawn Collins advises affiliate marketers to forget about becoming multi-millionaires next year and instead focus on achieving realistic goals.
“There is no specific timeline or benchmark for success in affiliate marketing,” writes Shawn, “When I started as an affiliate in 1997, I was ecstatic to get my first few bucks. Then I was paying the bill for cable… then cable and phone. I kept trying and learning and getting better at what I was doing. Eventually, I was supporting my family with those commission checks.”
Shawn advises affiliate marketers to continually aim for their own personal record, rather than trying to achieve goals based on arbitrary notions of ‘success’.
Thanks Shawn – it’s a welcome reminder to us all that we win whenever we do our best, whatever that may be, and however modest or grand.

Very true. When I first started out, I wanted to make X amount of dollars – ’cause someone said I could. In the meantime I learned that – pretty much like any other business – internet marketing is like planting a tree. it takes a lot of time and attention at first, and it takes a while to grow. But you cannot “chase it” – unless you are into PPC with a big budget.
The big thing is to simply “keep at it”. It has been said that nothing can take the place of persistence…
And Albert Einstein said that compounding is the greatest force in the universe – so simply keep compounding your efforts – DON”T jump from one thing to the next. I did – and without knowing it, I was starting from scratch every month or so….
it took me two years to realize…..:)
