Google-Yahoo Deal - Is It Anti-Competitive?
By Anna Johnson on July 5th, 2008The U.S. Justice Department has issued subpoenas to Google, Yahoo and Microsoft as it considers whether the Google-Yahoo search advertising deal is anti-competitive.
Under the deal, Yahoo, the second most popular search engine, will give some of its search advertising to Google, the leading search engine.
Some antitrust experts believe the Google-Yahoo agreement may be anti-competitive if it deters Yahoo from competing against Google in terms of delivering search results and/or providing search-based advertising opportunities.
