35 Ways To Boost Your Online Video Marketing

By Anna Johnson on October 15th, 2009

Over at Web Pro News Chris Crum has come up with a GREAT list of 35 tips for improving the performance of your online videos.

Check out Chris’ list here. Here are Chris’s not-so-obvious tips which resonate with me:

  • Encode your video files with metadata for maximum SEO and tagging benefits e.g. titles, dates, authors, descriptions and keywords (based on the search phrases you’re targeting).
  • Offer multiple formats to appeal to a wide audience e.g. mov, wmv, MPEG, mp4, flv, etc.
  • Surround your video with contextually related content e.g. links to other articles and videos.
  • Have one unique URL for each video.
  • Have a directory of videos on your site which links off the root of your folder structure.
  • Let visitors subscribe to your videos.
  • Keep your videos on your domain, whilst also uploading and distributing them to video sharing sites… and also consider other distribution/sharing opportunities.
