1 in 20 U.K. Divorces Handled Online
By Anna Johnson on July 22nd, 2009Data from Divorce-Online.Co.Uk indicates that 1 in 20 U.K. divorcing couples are filing for divorce online.
Recently revealed U.K. Ministry of Justice figures showed that 32,900 couples filed for divorce in England and Wales during the first quarter of 2009.
Meanwhile, Divorce-Online.Co.Uk, which provides online divorce packages, has seen a 37 percent rise in new divorce cases for the first quarter of 2009, with an average of 630 divorce cases being dealt with every month.
“The last year and a half has really seen the service take off as more and more people realise that you don’t have to pay high hourly rates to a traditional solicitor to get an uncontested divorce dealt with in a quick and professional manner,” said Mark Keenan, the founder and Managing Director of the firm in a press release.
Divorce-Online offers to handle divorces for just GBP 68 (about USD $111) so perhaps the economic environment has also prompted divorcing couples to go online.
